The Slocan Valley in the Kootenay Range of southeast British Columbia, Canada is a very special place. The water clean, the air fresh, and the people eclectic and warm. We both moved here from busier, less attractive urban environments and feel incredibly lucky to live and work in this splendiferous, verdant, and mountainous place we call paradise — with all the joy and sorrow that comes with it. We live on the edge of the wilderness where human encroachment hits the natural world. Every clearcut was once healthy, vibrant habitat, every ‘problem bear’ a victim of us humans living irresponsibly in their backyard.

We care deeply about this planet, and her creatures. We hope you do too. We've both worked for environmental groups and social change organisations before moving here, and continually volunteer on a variety of community projects. When you see a giant clearcut and silted creek up close, it moves you to work toward changing our unsustainable extraction practices such as clearcut logging.

Let's help imagine — and build — a better future!
